Fun With Fandom Essays

Sooooooo, about that "positive turning point" I talked about last time.....

Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaah.

I don't know what it is, but I've just been avoiding my blog for a while now. I enjoy writing this. I like talking to you guys about what's been going on in my life and how that's been affecting my writing. I like promoting my own stories here, and promoting stories I read, and helping myself figure out writing issues that have been bogging me down. The more I talk here about what my issue is and why it's an issue, the more the problem unravels in my brain.

I also enjoy having a time that's always dedicated to writing.

I truly do love having this blog, and I'm proud this one actually lasted for years on end (as opposed to my first 3 attempts to start up a blog that all crashed and burned within the first couple of months).

But, lately? I haven't been the biggest fan of waking up at a decent hour on my Tuesdays off so I have time to work on my blog in the morning, post by noon, and then have the next ten hours or so to do other things for my day off. Instead, I just want to lay in bed, snuggling the hubby until noon. Or, I get up by 8am, but then drag my feet and don't start actually working on this blog until closer to 10am. At that point, especially with my track record of taking 4 or 5 hours to write up my weekly post, edit it, and promote it, I wonder if it's worth starting my post. It won't publish until after noon, and I'm now cutting into the rest of my day off.

That might be the biggest thing: for whatever reason it takes me HOURS to write these weekly posts. I love writing them. I do. I promise you I do. I guess I'm just down on myself that they take SO. LONG. to write and post. Especially when I feel like I'm barely saying anything in them anymore. It's been rare, particularly this past year, to have any writing to talk about.

Plus, we're creeping up on a year since we started socially distancing. We haven't seen most of our friends that whole time, and I haven't seen my side of the family since. Also, aside from the occasional quick talk with Hubby's work friends while at the store, or attempts to chat with my coworkers, or a short yell across the driveway to Dragnime the few times we catch him outside, or the one time Rozsavaria popped by to gift us our belated Christmas gifts, we haven't socialized with anyone in person since Christmas. I'm a social person, and I guess I'm having a rougher time with this than I originally thought (especially since we didn't socialize with ANYONE outside the times I popped by the grocery store for TWO MONTHS when our state went into lockdown last year, so this isn't as bad comparatively). Instead of working on my writing, or concentrating on these blog posts, or even trying to catch up on my reading, I've been spending a LOT of time lately just lurking on Facebook and Tumblr. Just CONSTANTLY refreshing and scrolling through my news feed and dash. Leaving comments EVERYWHERE in hopes of getting some sort of contact back: a reply, a reblog with added commentary, comments on my stories that I can respond to. Anything, really.

Which, I mean, both kind of baffles me with regards to missing last week's post, as well as explains it?

The baffling portion is that I had FINALLY finished publishing Perfect Doesn't Need to be Perfect. So you'd think I'd want to be here to rejoice that my Christmas-themed story was done.

On the flipside, I saw a post on Tumblr complaining about a plot point in one of the episodes. I thought I had a simple thought about why that was and why I wasn't annoyed by that writing choice. I had seen these two users in particular having more and more conversation threads within the fandom, with other members chiming in, and I craved the possibility of being included in these kind of discourses.

Plus, added bonus, if I could become more active in these kinds of discussions, I might be more recognized within the fandom, which could possibly bring my Tumblr blog more followers, which, in turn, could mean more readers for my stories. It was a way to network within the fandom community while also helping me with my lack-of-socializing problem.

Win-win, right?

Weeeellllllll. Apparently, I had more than just a few thoughts on why it made perfect sense for Marinette to reveal she was Multimouse in front of Chat Noir SPECIFICALLY so Ladybug would have a reason to not give Marinette the mouse miraculous again. I'll get into a bit more detail in a minute for those who don't know the show/episode, but my point is that, instead of working on this blog post last week, I spent my four or five hours working on this 4700-some word meta essay about the episode and series in general.

If you care enough to read my essay, you can do so here.

So, a few more details about the initial post. This does contain spoilers for the season 3 episodes "Ikkari Gozen" and "Kwamibuster", just an FYI.

Generated by Bitmoji
Okay, so in the episode "Kwamibuster", Adrien's and Marinette's science teacher spotted Plagg eating cheese she had set out, as well as Tikki trying to stop Plagg. She went on TV to announce her discovery, however, since technology can't register magic, the teacher wasn't able to get any recorded proof of the kwamis. Instead, she drew crude drawings of Plagg and Tikki.

Adrien and Marinette, recognizing the kwamis and knowing they were both spotted in their school, begin wondering if that means their partner is also one of their classmates. Adrien almost INSTANTLY figures out that Ladybug is Marinette, but Plagg brushes him off and reminds him he's not supposed to know. Meanwhile, Marinette is too focused on "Chat Noir could be a student here, and what if he tries to figure out who I am" (which is, to be fair, EXACTLY what's going on) to bother trying to figure out who Chat Noir is. Regardless, both heroes know they need to think of an explanation to throw their partner off their scent.

Chat Noir tells Ladybug he has no clue what his kwami was doing "at that elementary school" which was enough to throw Marinette off his trail. She believes that since Chat Noir doesn't know it's a high school he must not go to it. On the flipside, Marinette goes a more complicated route, as she usually does.

The teacher had been akumatized into Kwamibuster, and has the ability to vacuum up kwamis into her magical backpack. Yes, this is intentionally a nod to Ghostbusters. Anyway, this magical vacuum can even pull kwamis out of powered up miraculouses, instantly taking the hero's powers away and detransforming them. So Marinette, after Tikki was stolen, has to find a way to get from the battle to Master Fu to try to get some other miraculous. That way she has the power to get Tikki back, and can then cleanse the akuma from there. Marinette picks the mouse miraculous (or rat, if you're truly going by the Chinese zodiac). It has the power to split the user multiple times, but shrinking them each time they split. Marinette wears all of the available miraculous, splitting herself enough times for each piece of herself to go with a different kwami.

There's a bunch of strategy here about purposefully getting herself captured in order to get Tikki and Plagg back, but I won't get into that. It's not important. What is important is that, after the akuma is broken out of the object and Kwamibuster reverts to the science teacher, Marinette uses the many bits of herself to temporarily trap the akuma (instead of cleansing it), and then uses one of her clones to create an illusion. She does this by pairing the mouse and fox miraculouses together so she could still be split, but also use Trixx's Mirage power.

For this illusion, she creates Ladybug getting Tikki back, powering back up, cleansing the akuma, and restoring everything via her Miraculous Ladybug power. Now that it looks like the battle is fully won, as it always is, an illusion of a full-sized Multimouse - the name Marinette gave herself as the mouse superhero - walks up to Ladybug, and takes off her miraculous to give it back; revealing herself to be Marinette. Now Chat Noir has "seen" Ladybug and Marinette standing side-by-side; "proving" that Marinette isn't Ladybug. The Ladybug illusion then tells the Marinette illusion that her identity has been compromised, and so she can never be Multimouse again. This is clearly Marinette's way of explaining away why Ladybug and Multimouse could never work together again; preventing Chat Noir from ever suggesting it or wondering why Ladybug would pick a different mouse bearer in the future.

It really was quite clever. EXCEPT, instead of Illusion-Ladybug telling Illusion-Marinette that the science teacher now knows her identity, and so Marinette can never have the miraculous again, for her own safety, Illusion-Ladybug implies that Marinette can never be Multimouse again because CHAT NOIR now knows who she is.

Admittingly, that's poor writing on the creators' parts. The added sting, though, is that, in the episode "Ikkari Gozen" Ladybug tells Kagami that she could never be Ryuko again specifically because HAWK MOTH knows who the dragon-themed superhero is. Same reason why Ladybug can't give Chloe back the bee miraculous.

So, now this Tumblr user Infinitysgrace is all bent out of shape that Illusion-Ladybug stating Marinette can't be Multimouse again because Chat Noir knows who she is puts him on the same threat level as Hawk Moth. Another user came in again questioning the need for the secret identities between the heroes. That's when I wanted to step in to explain how the writers actually did set it up in-universe very nicely to explain Marinette's logic in not letting Chat Noir know.

OKAY! SPOILERS OVER NOW! YOU CAN START READING AGAIN IF YOU SKIPPED THE LAST PART!

Anyway, I put in a LOT of time - and paused to rewatch certain bits of the show to make sure I got my wording right - trying to write up this comprehensive essay explaining why Marinette implied what she did about trusting Chat Noir with the identities of the part-time heroes. I was pretty proud of my work. It was a bit lengthy for the kind of conversation the users typically had, so I wasn't sure I was going to be able to continue a discussion as I wanted, but still.

What I did not expect was to get a response like this:

Let's just zero in here to the part that really surprised me:

They then went off about how the rules established within canon - within that very season - didn't line up with the "Chat Noir is the same threat level as Hawk Moth" outside of this one episode. Something I had addressed in my essay.

Then they stressed, "As for the fact that he often gets controlled by Akuma victims, that isn’t a good enough excuse." First of all, I know this person SUPER sympathizes with Adrien/Chat Noir, but... uh... yeah? Yeah it is? Regardless, I also addressed that in my essay.

Then they finished with "But no. There just isn’t good justification for him not to know who the part-time heroes are that can’t be matched with not just things in the show that contradict why he can’t know but also better justifications for why he should know." Again, things I believe I had addressed in my essay. If there were things I had missed, and Infinity had pointed them out - "what about this scene, or that scene, and I think you misinterpreted this scene" etc - I would have been fine with that. It would be the discussion I was craving. A true back-and-forth analysis.

However, the fact that they claimed that they were tired and "can we please not?" as if my essay had irritated them something fierce, but then wrote back a comment that makes me wonder if they actually bothered READING my essay!?

And then this person also came in with something I HAD ADDRESSED IN MY ESSAY (like, I get it, it was LONG, but if you're going to comment on something, at least read it first????):
I just- I was-

by Birdman, Inc

I'm still a bit salty about this. I've also avoided anything else involving Infinitysgrace because clearly you cannot change their opinions on how the shows writing is "clearly terrible." I mean, they love the show and the characters and are "anti-fandom-salt" but still just HATES on the writers for their poor writing. And, I mean, I get it. There are parts where I too am like "you lost the character there, writers. What are you doing?" but....

I dunno. Point is, clearly writing the essay instead of my blog post last week was time well spent.
Sooooo, how about what I WOULD have talked about last week?

Yeah, let's go back to happy thoughts: I FINISHED MY CHRISTMAS STORY! Wooooo!

I had failed miserably with getting it done within the timeframe I had wanted, but I WAS able to edit, publish, and promote my story throughout Super Bowl Sunday (which was February 7th, for those who didn't know). It kept me darn-near twelve hours to post the last five chapters, but it was done!

I was then too exhausted to keep track of my stats for that week mark, but here's where we are now:
FFN: 1743 views, 7 faves, 12 followers, and 15 reviews
AO3: 321 hits, 21 kudos, 4 bookmarks, and 30 comments!
DA: 10,415 views!? 5 faves, but no comments

Total Results: 12,479 views, 33 faves, 16 followers, and 45 reviews

Tumblr Notes: 47 notes; 31 likes, 13 reblogs, and 3 comments

Reviews:
Actually, most of the reviews are fairly lengthy, so you can just hit up FFN and AO3 to read them if you really want.
So. Hold up. Let's, uh... let's check out the actual breakdown of the individual DA chapter views, because over 10,000 hits on flippin' DEVIANT ART is blowing my mind.
  1. "1k views" - which, side note, is, I think, the first time anything I've posted has hit the thousand-views mark???
  2. 280 views (and 2 faves)
  3. 139 views
  4. 327 views
  5. 777 views (and a fave)
  6. 189 views
  7. 1k views again (and 3 faves; one was a person who faved one of the earlier chapters as well)
  8. "5k views"!!!!! Like... WHAT!? (no faves though)
  9. 398 views
  10. 348 views
  11. 143 views
  12. 814 views
THIS IS ON DEVIANT ART, MIND YOU! I feel like I can't stress that enough. Meanwhile, some of these chapters got more views than the entirety of the story over on AO3. Ya know, a place PEOPLE TYPICALLY GO TO READ FANFIC.

The bots must have really loved my story over on DA, huh?

Honestly, I'm not sure what I could have included in either the story, the notes, or the tags to have attracted the bots, but I'm pretty sure that's what happened there. The only hit counts I remotely trust are all of the ones under 400. Still, it's a nice little ego-boost to know my stories are even getting that much love over on a mostly visual-art site.

Another thing to note for those view counts is how I batch-published chapters. Day 1, I uploaded chapters 1 thru 3. Next were chapters 4 & 5. A few days later I published chapters 6 & 7, and then on a Sunday I published chapters 8 thru 12.

Either way, if you're one of my DA viewers, please let me know in the comments. I've love to meet you.

And if you want to join the masses, but haven't yet, here's one last reminder of where you can find my story.

Perfect Doesn't Need to be Perfect

Honestly, I'm just happy that Taurus Pixie got so much joy out of the story. It was, in part, to help me get the story out of my head after re-reading Pixie's story had birthed the idea, but it was also largely a way of helping perk her up after a super rough year. So... yay! Glad I was able to help at least a little.

With that project done, I was planning on working on a fluff story for Valentine's Day, or at least finish off the final two prompts from last year's Love Square Fluff Week. Sadly, I have done neither. A year later and I STILL can't get the prompt "Your Voice" to form the way I want it to. What I had written up - Marinette and Adrien doing trust exercises in phys-ed by taking turns being blindfolded while the other walks them through an obstacle course through verbal instruction alone - is sweet, but also feels a bit... I dunno. I think it would work better as a form of visual media than prose. Plus, I don't really have an ending for it? Also, it was supposed to be a set-up scene for the core story of Ladybug and Chat Noir recognizing each other's voices after a day of paying extra attention to Marinette's and Adrien's voices respectively. But the obstacle course bit is already about 8 pages long!

Soooooo, yeah. I still don't know what I'm doing for those last two prompts, and I never did get anything written for Valentine's Day.

I guess I'm still more burnt out than I gave credit. So, looks like I'm gonna put myself on another mini-hiatus. We'll see how a week of that goes.

Hopefully, I'll catch you guys next week.

2021 Starts Off With A Bang

Well then. Welcome to 2021, I guess. Seems 2020 decided to leave a few parting gifts before heading out the door.

How is everyone? This year has been a lot already. Namely, the insurrection in the US as Congress attempted to confirm the votes (yet again) that Biden did indeed win the election and is the next president. It's weird to both be shocked and yet saw it coming a mile away. Like, I was expecting that riot, but I also didn't think it would actually happen???? Especially to the extreme that they were able to manage.

January 20th won't come soon enough, but at the same time, I fear for presidential assassination attempts.

It's gonna be a rough year.

Even before all of that happy goodness, however, my husband and I had another lovely parting gift from 2020: COVID.

We're both fine, and we're allowed to leave quarantine on the 14th, but it certainly was not a fun go. Trying to track down testing in and of itself was a pain, although, the actual test wasn't bad at all. As the one nurse put it "we don't pick your brain anymore; just your nose" and it's a swab just inside the nostril, exactly like they're picking at it. Anyway, the other big issue was that Hubby had COVID, but I came back negative. Which means he had to isolate from me to try to keep me from catching it. Since only the two of us live in this apartment, and I had to quarantine, that meant I was effectively isolating as well; I just had more house to do it in. Fun.

Generated by Bitmoji

Well, sadly, it all was for naught. Either I had already caught COVID from Hubby and got a false negative because it was too soon into the incubation, or I caught it soon after because we share a bathroom and the man needs to eat, so we couldn't be 100% isolated from each other 100% of the time.

But, hey, I'm sure the week of sleeping on a loveseat and not being able to hug my husband was totally worth it...

I actually had symptoms about 4 days after Hubby, but didn't get the new test results until yesterday. Whoo! So... yeah, that's more-or-less how we've been spending our first couple of weeks of 2021.

The sad thing is, I was mildly excited about quarantine. I could use the time to start 2021 off right. I'd clean down the apartment. I'd catch up on more fanfics on my To Read list. I'd get my own writing done! Buuut then I was only getting about 2hrs of sleep each night on the loveseat. And my right ear has been clogged since the 3rd, so I've been hearing the world as if I'm under water for over a week. Plus the ear clog has been throwing off my balance so I've been wobbly and light headed and can't really stand for more than 15min at a time. Also, the coughing fits gave me mild headaches. So.... standing for long enough to clean wasn't really gonna work, which means the apartment is more-or-less "don't get worse" with the cleaning than the "improve the clutter" that I was going for. And getting my brain to function long enough to have energy to create or even imagine has been rough. There goes reading. I have attempted the writing still though.

In fact, the first few days of quarantine, before my symptoms arose and I was just in rest mode while fighting this thing, I was a writing machine! I went from barely writing anything in 2020 to writing nearly 20,000 words in less than a week!

Remember last time, when I told you guys that I had a story in mind thanks to Taurus Pixie? Well, as per usual, I wanted to have the story written before I started posting. That way I could edit earlier chapters if needed so later ones would make sense. Also, that way I could have a faster upload schedule, because then all I'd have to do is edit and publish. It might still take me a day or two between uploads, but it's way faster than if I'm waiting to have the energy to write the chapter first.

So I was spending pretty much my entire isolation - stopping only to throw on a mask whenever Hubby needed the bathroom, or when we needed food - writing away, uninterrupted, for three days or so. I got pretty far into the story too. I was determined to have it done by the 4th so I could just publish the whole thing by the 5th. I wanted that for multiple reasons.

First and foremost, because the story I was working on was Christmas themed, and I wanted to be able to publish it during the Christmas season. Secondly, the story is about the 12 days of Christmas, so it seemed fitting to publish DURING the 12 days of Christmas. (Yes, the 12 days of Christmas START on Christmas day; not end on it). Finally, I wanted the story published so I had links to post here in my blog.

Clearly, none of that happened.

I got as far as chapter 8 in a 12-chapter story, and then I had to wave the white flag. If I was going to publish and promote in my blog, I had to give up getting the whole thing done first and just publish what I had. Publishing even the first chapter would be good enough. So I stopped writing and switched to editing.

Always off to a great start, I didn't even BEGIN editing until after noon last Tuesday. Largely because sleeping on a tiny loveseat the past couple of weeks had really thrown my sleep schedule out of whack, and I didn't even wake up until about noon! On top of the late start, I was a bit dazed from my lack of sleep and my head spinning due to coughing and the inner ear problem, so the actual editing took longer than expected.

Then came the fight with four different websites in trying to format my story. I keep forgetting how much "fun" that part is, as well as how time consuming. Between Tumblr, FFN, AO3, and DA, my story wasn't uploaded until, like, 4am or something! Okay, fine. I'll just publish my blog post a day late. No big deal.

And then there was the attack on the Capital building.

Yeah, I did not have the heart to even think about this blog, let alone write a post, while dealing with the mental and emotional strain of watching that on the news all day.

So, here we are, a week later, with only 5 out of 12 chapters published of my Christmas story, and still needing to write chapters 9 thru 12. But something WAS written! Something WAS published! So now my goal is "have it done and published before February!" It worked for Woven Heartstrings. So I guess it can work here too.

This is all well and good, but what even IS this new story of mine?

Well, as I mentioned in previous posts, you can thank Pixie for unwittingly lending me her muse, because I 100% swiped her idea. As I was reading through Twelve Days of Chatmas I kept wondering how Ladybug was handling all the chaos that was surrounding her and Chat Noir. Pixie left enough breadcrumbs to guess what Ladybug was thinking, but I kept wanting to SEE it officially. So, I decided to write the story I wanted to read.

As a belated Christmas gift to Pixie - because, boy howdy does this poor woman deserve a good pick-me-up after the year she's had - as well as a thank you for sparking any sort of writing from me, I dedicated my latest story to her. My story was mostly written by her anyway; I'm just coming at it from a new perspective.

Yes. I have fallen so far off the creative horse that I'm now writing fanfiction of fanfiction. (And Hubby was the one who came up with the story title for me). Maybe one day I'll have an original idea of my own. In the meantime, I'm just happy to be writing again.

Anyway, for any who are interested, you can check out my story in my usual four places.

"Perfect Doesn't Need to be Perfect"
**Contains Spoilers for Taurus Pixie’s story Twelve Days of Chatmas**

**For reals, if you haven’t read
Twelve Days of Chatmas yet, read that first so my story doesn’t spoil anything for you. It’s cool. This story will still be here when you get back. ;) **
Now, since the story has been up for a week, I do have some stats on it already. It's had quite the warm reception, which really helps this nervous heart that feared I would come back rusty after nearly a year of not writing anything. A lot of the comments are Pixie gushing, so I won't post those here. You pretty much know her reviews by now, and you can go read them yourself over on FFN.

Pixie, just know how much I appreciate you, and your reviews always make me smile. I'm glad you are enjoying your gift, my friend!

How the heckens did DEVIANT ART get the most views for this story!? And the individual chapter views are all over the place too! Check this out:
  • Chapter 1 surprised me right out the gate with 978 views!?
  • Chapter 2 had a much more modest 219 views
  • Chapter 3 has an animal abuse content warning and drops to 102 views
  • Chapter 4 is back up to 265 views
  • Chapter 5 then balloons to 572 views!
Meanwhile, AO3 has only 76 hits! HOW!? When did DA become my big readership base!? If you're here from DA, let me know in the comments. I love you all and I'm amazed you are finding my writing on DA of all places, but this is exactly why I keep posting there!

I'd also like to note that the Tumblr account AO3 Feed - LadyNoir also shared my story (there's an algorithm in place that auto promotes stories published online with the Lovesquare tags). Their share did get 4 likes, and since the post is simply a promotion of my AO3 link, I'm guessing at least 4 of those AO3 hits were probably because of this blog. So, thank you, to AO3 Feed - LadyNoir.

Now, for that semi-long review from ritorudeito. It is so sweet, and I'm so impressed, because English clearly isn't their native language, and yet they are still giving my story a try. That always amazes me!

ritorudeito: Sorry because I didn't have chance to leave you a review before but I follow this story since the first chapters. I were a biggest fan of the original story. Indeed I translated it to Spanish to share with more readers here in fanfiction! (Author gives me chance by the way). I always dreamed with more about this story! And a Ladybug's version is more than perfect. The next days are my favorite! [REST OF REVIEW REDACTED DUE TO STORY SPOILERS]

How sweet is that!? This person loved Pixie's story so much they got her permission to translate it into Spanish in order to make it easier for others to read her story, and now this person is back to read my story simply because it retells Pixie's? I'm dumbfounded by who finds my stories, I truly am. It's such a humbling experience to get reviews like these.

And a huge thank you to pkk, whoever you are, for the consistent reviews left on my AO3 stories. It's always such a joy to see repeat readers like that.

Anyway, I should probably get back to editing the next couple of chapters that need to go up, either that, or write those final three.

Here's hoping 2021 is treating you kinder, and that you enjoy this little bit of Christmas cheer seeping a bit further into the month than expected.

With a little bit of luck and determination, I'll try to see you fine folks again next week.

Closing Out a Complete Trash Year

Generated by Bitmoji
I know I used that image last year for 2019, but it feels way more fitting this go. It's amazing how such a trash year was followed by an even worse one! In truth, I am not getting my hopes up for 2021, but I am going to focus on healing this upcoming year. An attempt to get back to what was once normal for me.

In past years, this would either be where I reflect on the year - not happening - or I talk about my New Years Resolutions. Well, my resolutions are more of a To Do list to help me get back to who I was back in 2017 or 2018.

To start, 2020 was the year of "what even is time anymore?" We all felt it. We fell out of routine when we were forced to lockdown. Even if you were someone who continued working at your normal location the whole pandemic, time seems to have shifted so days just blend together, crawl, but also fly by all at the same time. Right?

I had given up on my time audits because "What is time anyway?" Thus I have no clue where a good half of my year went. My head is swimming just thinking about it. So step 1 is going to be to get back into auditing my time; knowing where it goes so I can adjust accordingly.

Next is finding consistent time to write again. Even if I'm not inspired to write and use that time to catch up on more fanfics or just listen to music, I need to remember to just set aside that time. Be it nightly, every other night, a huge chunk over the weekend or on one of my days off. I just need to prioritize writing again.

Same with reading, actually. Both 2019 and 2020 were trash, and during both years I barely read anything. Coincidence? Well, I mean, yeah. Definitely. 100% coincidence, but still.

I think I'm going to give myself a rule to read fanfics I have earmarked within a week of getting the notification email. That way I make sure to set aside the time to just enjoy stories. As for the professionally published works? I might have to start bringing books to work with me again. Maybe I'll treat myself like I'm 10 and cut off using electronics at a certain time so the last hour before bed is instead spent reading. I'll have to check out those time audits to see what will work best for me, but it couldn't hurt to start with that tactic, right?

My joints may still be too trash to be able to handle Zumba yet, but I DO need to focus on getting this weight off me and moving again. So I might use my original Zumba time to do... SOME sort of exercise. Anything I can find that would be low-impact on the ankles and knees. Maybe focus on weight lifting and my upper body and core? That way, once I can physically do Zumba again I already have the time set aside.

Hubby and I also talked about having 2 meat-free days a week: one night of eating fish/seafood instead, and one night of a vegetarian meal. We'll also have to focus on cutting down on carbs so that our "vegetarian" option isn't just Mac & Cheese or something.

Just building up routines again is the main focus of 2021 for me. Wish me luck.

The fact that last week I was able to set aside time to catch up on 2 fanfics I had on my massive To Read list was a good start. As well as what I did the past two days.

Remember how last week I said I had borrowed Taurus Pixie's Muse? Well, I'm far from finished on the project, but I do have roughly 3500 words already committed to a new story. I don't know if I'll have it done in time to close out this year, but screw it. This year sucked anyway. It seems fitting that the last new upload I did was for Plagg Appreciation Day.

Plagg, please Cataclysm this year for me.

Meh. Close enough.

I am aiming to get this story done and published in time to promote it next Tuesday, so keep your eyes out for that.

How great would it be to start off 2021 with a new story!? That will definitely get me on the right track. That's for sure.
Generated by Bitmoji
Sadly, I can't really talk more about the project now without spoiling some things about it, but, again, I hope the wait isn't much longer on it. On the plus side, having a much shorter blog post than I normally write means I have all this extra time I'm normally working on my posts instead directed towards that story, right?

So, here's to having a better 2021. Here's to having a new story done soon. Here's to starting the new year off right. Most importantly, here's to all of us being kind to ourselves this upcoming year. We are all hurting in one way or another, and we need to remember this new year is for healing.

Now for a couple more cathartic 2020 images to make myself feel better, and hopefully cheer you up too before we officially say goodbye to this insane year.

December Catch-Up

Generated by Bitmoji

Ooof. I've missed nearly all of December! Man, this year has been a complete dumpster fire, hasn't it?

Speaking of, that's what I got my husband as one of his many birthday gifts.

This is not paid advertising; I just really enjoy their products.
(Special shout out to ChibiSunnie for showing me that this was a thing)

To be frank, not much has really gone on, productivity wise, this month, and so I just didn't really have the drive to update my blog. I'm so tired of writing "I didn't do any writing or anything creative, nor have I read anything new. So how's your pandemic going?" every week. That first week of December I concentrated on Hubby's birthday for my days off. I didn't initially plan on skipping that week's update, and was actually kinda mad with myself for doing so, but it was what it was, and I had to let it go. The following week, I only had the 11th off, and I was spending so much time playing catchup on chores and errands and gift buying that I didn't even think about my blog post until days later. Again, I was mad at myself, but I had to shrug off the shame and guilt of not updating.

Then last week, I just didn't bother. Complete white flag. I had switched days off with a coworker, so I had Sunday instead of Friday off, I had my normal Tuesday off finally, AND the store was closed on Thursday due to snow. Still, I spent Tuesday nuzzling against my husband and doing more Christmas shopping. I was still irritated, but I didn't even ATTEMPT to write anything for my blog. What was there to write anyway? Nothing really to catch up on within my personal life - as evidenced by these short paragraphs summing up practically my whole month - and I hadn't done any writing or reading, so....

With that Thursday snow day though, I FINALLY had some free unscheduled downtime! Hubby and I caught up on Christmas movie watching, and last-minute online Christmas shopping. I still didn't think of my blog, though. Instead, I focused on my LOOOOOOOONG backlog of fanfics to read. I was a bit overwhelmed as to where to start since my list went as far back as August! To simplify things, and get me out of my overwhelmed freeze, I just started at the top: the most recently updated story. Which also happened to be a story I read before.... whoops.

Generated by Bitmoji

Oh well, it's a Christmas themed story, and I need extra doses of Holiday Cheer this year anyway. Plus, it's a story that's partially gifted to me, so how could I resist?

On December 14th, I got a notification that Taurus Pixie started uploading her lovely story Twelve Days of Chatmas to AO3! Those that have been following this blog for a while may remember that she had partially dedicated this story to me back in 2018 when she first published it to FFN. It's a 12-chapter story that she updated daily leading into Christmas. Well, now that she has it polished a touch and is ready to upload it to AO3, she's doing the same thing: updating it a chapter a day leading into Christmas.

It's angsty but funny and gives you warm holiday fuzzies and HOLY SMOKES, I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MUCH FOWL IS INCLUDED IN THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS!

Twelve Days of Chatmas

Summary: Christmas is fast approaching, and Chat Noir is determined to get Ladybug the perfect gift. The problem is, they all keep going disastrously wrong. Will Chat Noir be able to find Ladybug the perfect gift in time?

FFN Final Word Count: 25,757
Status: On FFN - Complete; On AO3 - Daily Updates Ongoing

It's been such a delight to relive the excitement of getting those daily notifications telling me the story updated.

Also, bonus, I haven't started any writing yet, but I HAVE been brainstorming a project that was inspired by my re-read of Twelve Days of Chatmas, so if I actually find the time to crank it out, you can give Pixie a huge "thank you" for sharing her Muse.
Generated by Bitmoji
Either way, you guys should go check out Twelve Days of Chatmas because it's fantastic and deserves more love. Plus, Christmas story!

Speaking of which, I'm happy to see more and more people are drifting back to my own Christmas ML fanfic. If you haven't checked out the story I gave to Pixie in 2018 as a thank you for TDoC, please give it a read!

Woven Heartstrings
Summary: Chat Noir needs a Christmas gift for Ladybug. Marinette is a very crafty and creative person, so Chat Noir asks her for some help in making a gift for his lady. While hesitant in aiding Chat Noir's attempts to woo her superhero self, Marinette reluctantly agrees. Although, after a week of working side-by-side with Marinette, Chat Noir's not so sure he wants to gift the scarf he's making to Ladybug after all.

The rest of the limited free time I had this week, instead of working on that new story brewing in my brain (like I need more plotbunnies...), I spent reading ANOTHER story that was partially gifted to me!
Natsuo Maki from Love Lab

This poor story was sitting on my To Read list for nearly a month! After tearing through it Monday, I felt so guilty about waiting so long to get to it in the first place, but I'm also kind of glad I did wait, because it meant I could read it all in (almost) a single sitting instead of waiting for the next chapter to update.

This story was SUCH a rollercoaster of emotions. It is angsty and makes me want to cry. It's so soft and fluffy and fills you with warm fuzzies. It gut-punches you with angst again. It's a bit silly. It's comforting in the best way. It's just.... Mmmmm. A delight!

Pieces by mostlovedgirl

Summary: Adrien’s world is shattered. He runs to the one place he can find comfort. It isn’t with the person he imagined, but she’s the only one he needs.

Word Count: 8292
Status: Complete; 3 chapters
Rating: Teen and up
Anyone who still believes *I* should be considered the "Queen of Angst" really needs to read this woman's work. At BEST, I'm probably a Countess of Angst....

As I went to bed Monday night, I was again inspired. I thought about a continuation of the story, involving Nino and Alya. I don't want to spoil anything about Pieces, but let's just say that Adrien has a LOT to talk about with Nino and Alya come the Monday at school after the story ends. There's also a LOT he has to navigate at school itself, and I was starting to explore that as I drifted off to sleep.

Sadly, as is usually true when one thinks of plotlines while drifting off to sleep, I've kind of lost where I was going with it. I know more-or-less the issues still left post-Pieces that Adrien has to deal with, and how I wanted Alya and Nino to be involved. I also vaguely recall wanting Alya and Nino getting their Miraculouses back permanently, but I can't recall how I was going to go about it. Finally, while most fanfic writers tend to have Adrien using his Trust to finance an apartment the moment he turns 18 so he can get out of the Agreste mansion, part of me prefers the idea of the Lahiffe family taking him in until he's ready to be on his own. Also, with everything that happened in Pieces, I'm not sure if I wanted him to leave or stay in the mansion. A LOT of ball-juggling in my head, but the fact that there was a SPARK there means so much.

So another big thank you to MLG for sharing a bit of HER Muse as well. I guess while my own Muse is broken, I'm on some sort of Rent-A-Muse program for my writing. So, again, thank you to these other fantastic content creators for lending theirs out.

Alright, so let's see what my To Read list looks like now....
  • I've been waiting patiently for the latest chapter update of TaurusPixie's rework of her demon-summoning Miraculous Ladybug AU story Immortal Bonds; completely forgetting I never went back to read the chapter 3 update from back in August! So that's top of my list, for sure!
  • Another biggie for me, especially since I usually hop instantly to the story when I see it updates, is Chapter 17 of Discordant Sonata by EdenDaphne. Frankly, I'm surprised I've waited over a month to read this!
  • Yet ANOTHER story I was excited to see an update notification for despite me neglecting to actually read the update this past week is Dressed to Confess by zenmisery
  • There's also the 7 one-shots Cyhyr wrote for SylvixWeek2020 way back in September!
  • Bouncing back to TaurusPixie, apparently I've neglected to read both her chapter 4 AND 5 updates for her Helsing story Go and Conquer.
  • Next up is probably Wait for Me by mostlovedgirl, which I've been sitting on since the beginning of November.
  • I also have three different W.I.T.C.H. stories by TaurusPixie to read: Dreams of Demons, Waters Run Deep, and Healing Hearts. These stories have been piling up since the beginning of November. However, I don't really know anything about W.I.T.C.H., so I might have to push them to the back of the pack until I whittle this list down a touch.
  • The 45 other fanfics I already had on my To Read list before the summer even ended!
  • The last 2 novels of Rick Riordan's Trials of Apollo series

I'm assuming you can guess why I felt overwhelmed when I FINALLY had some reading time again and I wasn't sure where to start. It's equally overwhelming to try to decide what to even do with that free time! Catch up on the reading or attempt to write? Trying to answer that question has been a bit crippling for me this year, but I'm hoping 2021 will be kinder to all of us.

In the meantime, I hope everyone either got to enjoy their holidays or will be enjoying theirs; sorry to all of my non-Christian readers for missing wishing you a happy holiday.

What DID I Do This Past Month?

Well then. Seems Tuesday threw a LOT more at me than I was anticipating, and this blog post got kinda left on the wayside. I had most of it done, though, so I figured I'd just post late this week instead of skipping again. Because, well, come on. A blog post two weeks in a row!? It's amazing how much better I feel being able to do this. I truly missed being able to write ANYTHING, even if what I AM writing is basically just weekly journal entries. It's still a start, right?

Speaking of, NaNoWriMo starts on Sunday. Part of me wants to participate, but another part doesn't want to add any more stress to a year that has already been a lot for me with regards to my writing confidence. So I haven't officially signed up for it. We'll see what I decide by Saturday.

There are three options I'm batting around should I decide to do NaNo. Four if you add in the option to just bounce between them all and focus on both word count and writing ANYTHING instead of the traditional version of "50,000 words for ONE story".

Option 1: Try to work on One and the Same yet again. This story has been in the making for 2 years, and I've had so many people finish Peeping Tomcat only to ask me where to find OatS. I always feel a touch embarrassed when I have to respond with "Uh... I'm... still working on that one...." Just call me the George R. R. Martin of fanfiction at this point. I may get the next story out.... eventually.... in the meantime, let me assure you - while I have a bunch of other projects released in the meantime - that I'm totally working on that sequel I mentioned years ago.... I did vow at the beginning of the year that I'd get at least the first chapter of OatS published before the conclusion of 2020, but considering I've barely even LOOKED at this story all year, I don't know if I should still hold myself to that. After a 2+ year wait, I REALLY don't want to rush out something subpar. Nor do I want to publish the first chapter just to say I did so, and then have people waiting for who knows how long until I can get the rest of the story written and polished.

Option 2: I'll touch more on this later, but I was heavily inspired by the Miraculous Ladybug special that came out at the end of September. Well, to be more accurate, I was heavily inspired by the confusion and salt the fandom threw around after watching the special. I don't know if I just know how to get into the heads of the writers better than a lot of fans, but I understood where they were going with just about all of scenes, whereas a great many of the fandom seemed blindsided. Or they felt what happened was a bit contrived. Or a character seemed to be written poorly. Et cetera.

So my thought was to help the fandom see what I did with regards to why the writers made the decisions they did. In a manner similar to my story Prescription for Love, I want to write the scenes that were skipped because they weren't necessarily crucial for plot progression. I want to write scenes we were shown, but in a different character's perspective than the one we saw on screen. I want to further flesh out the events of the special. In part, because these side scenarios are bouncing around in my head anyway, but also to maybe help the fandom see what I did and appreciate the special more.

While I feel guilty taking on another big project instead of working on OatS (again), I also kind of want to get this story done sooner rather than later since it's specifically focused on canon, and I'm already a month out from the special's premiere.

Option 3: I had offered to help my mom out with something, and I have totally fallen off the horse on that. We talked about it, and we now have a new deadline of February to get it all sorted out, but I do hate holding up other people's projects like this. I've been in group projects where the rest of us are in limbo as we wait for someone to get their part of the project done. It sucks being those who are just on standby. So I may use November as a means to kick myself into gear for this project.

So, there we are. My three options for NaNo - should I decide to participate this week - as well as that fourth option of just bouncing between these projects wherever my inspiration takes me just to keep me moving forward.

Now, let's circle back to that ML special.

I absolutely adored it. The voice acting was a bit off - as in the VAs lost the tone they had established for these characters' voices, but the acting itself was spectacular - so that threw me, but after watching the special about a dozen times (thank you, DisneyNOW), I'm getting more and more used to it. I just hope the choice - either by the director or by Cristina Vee herself - to have Marinette deepen and mature her voice whenever she's Ladybug doesn't transition into the show. If they had made that choice at the start of the series it would be one thing, but after 3 seasons it seems weird for her to start that NOW when her voice hasn't been remotely close to a giveaway up until this point.

Maybe you could explain it away as "after the event of 'Chat Blanc' she's making sure Chat Noir doesn't figure out who she is" but she didn't deepen her voice in the episodes following, so it doesn't really work. You could also possibly argue that "she's now the Guardian and feels she needs to work harder to hide her identity" but if no one figured out her identity before why would she feel like it's in danger of being discovered now? Maaaaaybe because Chloe knows that most of the Miraculous holders are her classmates, and the guy that's now pseudo-dating Marinette??? I dunno, the girl that's pseudo-dating Adrien was also a holder, so maybe Chloe won't put two-and-two together?

Either way, I'm not a fan of the decision. I wouldn't mind if Bryce Papenbrook had decided to do something like that for Chat Noir because he already changes up his voice slightly between the two personas. It just feels weird to have Marinette randomly do it out of nowhere. Especially with how drastically different Cristina Vee goes with it. I think the issue I have the most with it is that she uses the same deeper and more mature voice she used for Nightmare Ladybug in the episode "Sandboy," and to have "evil" Ladybug's voice now be the real LB's vocal choice is just wrong to me.

Other than that, though, I LOVED this special. You can read my semi-live-blogging of the special here. Fair warning, there's spoilers as I react to the special.

As predicted though, as well as mentioned above, this ever-growingly-toxic fandom was all set to tear this special apart for every little thing. The largest victims being Adrien and Alya. This is where the idea for Option 2 above came from.

I mostly wanted to rewrite the Car Scene from Adrien's perspective, and possibly Alya's perspective as well. We see it via limited POV through Marinette's perspective, so I don't think there needs to be more there, but trying to understand Adrien and especially Alya during that scene seems to be both crucial and something that goes over a lot of fans' heads. In fact, the way Alya acted throughout the whole special I feel needs to be explained.

So many complained about how she's once again not being a good friend to Marinette - similar complaint as in the episode "Chameleon" - and since I had friends like Alya growing up, I feel like I understand her and her motivations. Are they healthy, intelligent, or helpful choices? No. Are they decisions a lot of teens her age would make because they don't have the maturity or perspective to understand why these decisions are bad? Hells yeah! Should writers abandon realism in telling a story in favor of "teaching" children better life choices? Maybe, but that's entirely up to the writers and what kind of story they're trying to tell. Is the story automatically bad because a writer decides to go with "realism because it adds better drama" instead of "teaching children so they are better prepared for the future"? No.

I could do a whole essay on this subject, but I won't get into it now.

So, yeah, I want to rewrite the Car Scene from these other character perspectives, along with what happened with Marinette and Adrien post-sewer scene, the Floating Scene, the flight from Paris to New York City, Alya's and/or Nino's POV during the museum attack, Alya and Marinette interacting post-attack on NYC, Adrien prepping for the trip to NYC, why Luka had to race a bus to drop Marinette off, possibly Adrien's trip back to Paris, and maybe a LadyNoir scene post-special when the two meet up again in Paris. There might be more there, but I'll have to go through the special again (woe is me) to decide if there's more scenes I want in this project.

I do already have some starter essays I wrote over on Tumblr to give me jumping off points for the narrative as a whole.

Again, these are heavily spoilerific essays, just FYI.

I guess that does mean that I HAVE written this past month. Specifically the final week of September, but still. Yay.

Generated by Bitmoji

I wasn't the only one that was inspired by the special, which I completely expected to happen. I still haven't finished that project from over a month ago where I was trying to compile my list of fanfic recommendations. Instead I started reading all of the NY special inspired stories. Now I have even more stories to add to my rec list....

Whoops.

Worth it.

I've also been reading something out-of-fandom. Honestly, I've been trying to avoid doing precisely that because it's hard enough for me to get back into writing if I stay within the fandom and allow it to help inspire me. I didn't want to try to switch gears to a new fandom and hope it doesn't throw me off track of what limited progress I've made this year.

However, Taurus Pixie recently started up a new story for the Hellsing fandom. I'm not really feeling Halloween-y this year - which SUCKS because it's a Saturday, it's a full moon, it's a blue moon, etc etc etc, and yet... meh? - so I was hoping a story based on a vampire-centric fandom might help with that. Really get me in the spoopy mood. Plus, Pixie got a lot of rude and entitled reviews on her latest ML chapter, which caused her to decide to pull away from writing anything for this increasingly toxic fandom. I knew she needed some love after that ordeal, so I wanted to get in on the ground floor of her newest story.

Honestly, I'm surprised it kept her this long to write something for Hellsing. This anime/manga's aesthetic is right up her alley. The story follows Seras as she tries to figure out the nuance and political environment of the vampire world without the aid of Alucard. I'm only 2 chapters in - a 3rd was posted on the 22nd, but I haven't had a moment to read it yet - and I'm already loving the world build. I don't think she's ever played any form of White Wolf's World of Darkness, or, specifically, the Vampire: The Masquerade game. And yet, that environment is more-or-less what she's building. It's great  how multiple people just SENSE that idea of animalistic hierarchy and tension of turf wars happening within vampire culture. That structure of vampiric society seems as part of the myth as fangs, sunlight aversion, and hatred of garlic.

Anyway, if you want something dark, gritty, violent, and Halloween-y to read this week, why not give Pixie's story a go? Fair warning, being in the Hellsing fandom more-or-less means she has free rein with her writing so she has virtually every trigger warning slapped onto this thing. Like I said, this is violent and grotesque and dark and gritty as she focuses on Seras dealing with her own monstrous nature and surviving against other creatures that have all but fully submitted to their monstrous and feral nature. Also, it takes place post Hellsing Ultimate/the manga, so... spoilers as well.

Go and Conquer

Cast out by her master, Seras must try and make a new life for herself, despite knowing so little about the vampire way of life. But when a small coven takes her in, Seras finally begins to fully relise her true potential, falling more and more into the insanity of the vampire world. Meanwhile, Hellsing sends in Alucard to deal with this new and emerging threat...

Speaking of submitting to one's monstrous and feral nature, I've been playing Among Us, as I mentioned last week. This past Friday we actually managed to wrestle together enough people for there to be two impostors for a few games! That was exciting. Also, for whatever reason, this time *I* was the impostor seemingly more times than not. Man, I know most people prefer being the impostor and having the fun of sabotaging and killing without having to worry about working out who is the impostor. However, I am NOT one of those players. I HATE being the impostor. Yeah, it's fun, but it's also sooooo stressful. Trying to think of lies or alibis to keep the heat off of you? Trying to keep your tells in check so you don't give yourself away? I know I can't play with voice chat on because I giggle uncontrollably when I can't think of a way of talking myself out of suspicion. Trying to keep track of EVERYONE so you can get in a clean kill? Incidentally, I almost NEVER got a clean kill. Someone either spotted me or walked in RIGHT after the kill, and I couldn't think of a lie fast enough to self-report.

The only really clean kill I had was when I sat in the vent in Electrical on the Skeld map, because I knew SOMEONE had to have a task in there at some point. The second I saw someone alone I jumped out of the vent, killed, then hopped back in before anyone could be the wiser. I then travelled via vent for a bit so no one could pin me near the room.

Also, Hubby and I are those annoying players who like to pod-up so it's harder for the impostor to pick us off without the other(s) seeing it happen. More often than not we can't convince other players to join us in podding so we just partner up, but, if Ronoxym's Twitch stream from that night was any indication, it annoys the HECK out of the other players that they can't kill one of us without the other seeing because we're ALWAYS together. This playstyle is very helpful as a crewmate, but it's also suuuuuper difficult as an impostor.

If Hubby and I are ALWAYS together, but one of us is the impostor, it's sooooo hard to get a clean kill without the other seeing it. Which means splitting off from each other, but if we're ALWAYS attached at the hip then the fact that one of us wanders from the other can be a bit suspicious. Alternatively, it means that our spouse is the first to go so we're free to roam around solo. Which also means we go from "partnering keeps us safe" to "partnering potentially makes us the first victim" as well as people getting suspicious that one of us is running around without the other.

We're actually surprised THAT wasn't the main give-away: "Hey, found Zalic's body. Lyco didn't report, but she's still alive. Lyco seems sus." Or, alternatively, "Zalic's alive and didn't report a dead Lyco? Seems sus."

Nope. No one managed to put those pieces together. They would grumble about us being attached at the hip, but never had any red flags go up when we WEREN'T together.

Although, now that I've pointed it out, looks like Hubby and I need to come up with a new strategy or we just gave ourselves away as impostors....

Anyway, for me at least, it's just so much easier when there's two impostors. Then I can focus on doing sabotages and hope O2 running out or the reactor melting down kills everyone for me, or at least thins people out enough for the other impostor to get in the kills.

We did recently got introduced to the Hide-and-Seek mod that people have been playing, and I'm all for playing in that mode! It's bound to be so much less stress to be the impostor when you don't have to worry about hiding it. It does seem a LOT more stressful to be the crewmates though....

Still excited to try it out!

On a much sweeter side of things, Hubby swiped my Switch on me Saturday. For the majority of the month, he's had his character in Animal Crossing: New Horizons running around as Chat Noir whereas I've had either an all-pink outfit (for breast cancer awareness month) or a new Halloween costume on.

Well, since he had been running around as Chat Noir anyway, he decided to surprise me when I got home to play that day.

My glorious dork of a husband decided to go full-throttle, found a BUNCH of Adrien Agreste inspired shirts in the custom design kiosk, and even had my character send him the orange sneakers to finish the outfit. Wish the green eye color available was more emerald shading than jade, but it works.

Naturally, I had to make sure I matched.
I was able to find quite a lot of Marinette Dupain-Cheng inspired shirts via the custom design kiosk as well. As a whole, however, his outfit is way better than mine. I couldn't find pink slip-on shoes, so I went with low heels. I also don't have a pink round purse with a black strap. Some of the shirt designs had one drawn on the design, but I liked having the actual bag better. Finally, the blue hair is a bit too light of a shade, but it was either this or actual black, so I'm going with this. I'd also prefer if the pigtails were at the base of the head, much like the dual-braids, but I guess these work too.

We've been having fun roleplaying as these two adorable dorks.
I found "Adrien" playing on the piano while visiting Hubby's island.

The truest of roleplaying: Lovesick Marinette and totally clueless Adrien.

To finish up the Miraculous Ladybug deep dive to try to get re-inspired to write for this fandom, I had decided to make a new mask for this week. I doubt I'll dress up for Halloween much more than just an all-black outfit, but I do also have this mask now...

I tried a new mask design that accordions out vertically instead of the standard horizontal. Doing so is supposed to bevel the mask out away from your lips while still staying snug against the jawline and nose. This way your lips never touch the mask. It seems to work really well, however I DID cut the ear straps a touch too small, so, unless the elastic stretches out, I can only wear the mask in short trips, like to the grocery store or laundry. It's just too much tug on the ears otherwise.

I debated making a second one with longer ear loops, but without a sewing machine stitching this mask together took two days as is. Maybe some day in the future I'll try again, but for right now I'm content with this one mask.

How about everyone else? Have you been reading anything good? Any stories getting you in the mood for Halloween? Alternatively, if you want to hear out-of-copyright ghost stories from around the gothic/Victorian era, here is the playlist of ones Luke Westaway from OutsideXtra has been reading on his private channel this year. Do you have a Halloween costume this year? What are you dressing up as? Have you been playing Among Us as well? Do you prefer to be the impostor or a crewmate? Any pro strats to share? Are you going to participate in NaNoWriMo? Do you have a preference as to which option I should do, should I decide to join in?

I keep forgetting to share this, but I did set up a new Dream in ACNH this past week. I'll have to redo it now that I'm Marinette and my island is getting a bit more spoopy, but if you have the game and want a poke around my island, feel free to pop on by.
Dream Address, in case you can't quite read the image,
is DA-6983-1496-3456.
Enjoy your stay.

I know this is a strange year with strange circumstances, but I do hope everyone can enjoy their Halloween while still staying safe and healthy.

If you are a United States citizen over the age of 18, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remember your civic duty! You have LESS THAN A WEEK NOW!

NEXT TUESDAY is election day. An overwhelming amount of citizens seem to have already voted via mail-in ballots, drop-off ballot boxes, early voting, etc. Keep it up! Keep yourself safe whenever possible. Remember that you can always hand deliver to your elections office if you don't want to chance going to the poles, but also don't trust either mailing or ballot boxes. If you don't know where that is, this site can help you find your local elections office. Please make a plan if you haven't already voted. Make your voice heard. Don't let anyone convince you that your vote isn't going to matter or count. Don't allow yourself to think that you shouldn't bother because you know your area is going to vote for the opposing party anyway. Don't think that it doesn't matter because your area typically votes the same way as you regardless.

GET. OUT. THERE. AND. VOTE.

Safely.
