I'm Late, I'm Late, For A Bunch Of Dates!

Okay. I'm actually a touch exhausted, and it isn't just because I'm currently running on about 3hrs of sleep.
Generated by Bitmoji
I mean, yes, there's the lack of sleep as well, but that's what caffeine is for. See, the grocery store Hubby works at is already understaffed, but then, last week, one of the supervisors for the front end cashiers quit. Yesterday, another supervisor decided to transfer to a different store, and a third quit "effective immediately"! That means Hubby is now just one of like 3 or 4 supervisors available! So he stayed late yesterday. Then the overnight cashier - since it's a 24hr store - called out, and with all the available cashiers already scrambling to cover the supervisor shifts, there really wasn't anyone left. So - picking up 7hrs of overtime - Hubby went back to work to do the overnight. That means he was at work for 19hrs, minus the 4hr break he had between the long shift and the overnight.

Yeah, so, as exhausted as *I* am, he's 10x more-so.

How does any of this translate to ME working off of 3hrs of sleep? Well, readers that have been around since I started this blog might remember how much I HATE when Hubby does the overnights. Once upon a time, he'd go in for the Saturday-to-Sunday overnights every week in order to switch out the tags for that week's sales. I just couldn't fall asleep without him home, and so I'd have insomnia those nights. Sometimes I'd power through the night and Hubby and I would crash when I got him home after his shift. Sometimes exhaustion would overtake me and I'd actually pass out about 3am or 4am. Well, last night was one of those nights. Could NOT fall asleep until 3:30ish, and I needed to be up at about 6:45 so I had time to quickly get ready before picking Hubby up at 7.

Caffeine is my friend today.

However, as I mentioned at the top, my true exhaustion is NOT from the lack of sleep. Instead, it's due to the writing frenzy I HAVE been able to get myself into.

Sorta.

So, you guys already know that my anniversary threw me off last week, and so it actually kept me 3 days to write my blog, and a fourth to edit and FINALLY publish it. Yeah... that seems to be the trend for my writing this month.

After publishing my blog post, I spent the rest of Friday cleaning my apartment and researching for my story for Ronoxym. I found a lot of really neat info, but it also meant I got lost on Wikipedia for hours on end. I also talked quite a bit with Wolfhearted throughout the day. Sometimes it was about Ron's story, sometimes it was about Miraculous Ladybug, and sometimes it was about stupid stuff because why not? I also wrote up my basic concept for my story and sent it to Wolf to read over. It really helped me sort of solidify my idea to write it out like that. It also spotlighted the bits I still needed to figure out.

So figure out I tried. Saturday I went back to researching. The biggest thing I noticed is that most of my supernatural references I was using were European/UK based, and yet I randomly threw a Japanese myth in as well. I had to decide if I was going to go all-or-nothing. I either had to pull in myths from the rest of Asia, India, Africa, and Central/South America, or I had to keep the references strictly European - and by extension North American/Australian due to colonization.

I once more got lost on Wikipedia, and once more found a LOT of really interesting stuff. However, I couldn't find anything from non-European cultures that really worked with the concept I had come up with, so I caved and dropped the Japanese reference. I could always mention that this was just the "European/American branch" and that there were other branches covering the other regions/cultures of the world.

Content that I had researched enough - at least, to start - I FINALLY wrote my first word of Ron's story. The set-up kept a bit longer than I originally anticipated, but it almost always does that to me. I was at 4pgs and nearly 2200 words when I had to stop for the day. I still need to go back to re-read and edit what I have, and then finish the actual story. However, I do not have it done yet, and I doubt I'll have it done in time for Writer's Group to critique it in time to help me edit. I mean, I could give them the opening and see what they think of that....

Again, I'm hoping to have the story done by the 18th, so I only have 10 more days to lock this down. I can do it!

The real challenge is the timing of Kyoru Week.

As I mentioned on Friday, Sunday was the start of this Fruits Basket fan event. We were given seven single-word prompts: one per day of Kyoru Week. We are then challenged to use the Word of the Day to create fanfiction or fanart focused on the relationship - usually romance - between Kyo and Tohru.

I was going to do more writing at work, but got distracted by another creative project. For Halloween, the local businesses are participating in a scarecrow design contest. My manager and co-worker signed the store up on one of my days off, and the two of them decided on Jack Skellington and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
We had more than enough discontinued fabric in our store. We could have probably made a fairly close replica of Sally's dress.

I mean, we could have, but my co-worker - who pitched the idea of Jack and Sally - never actually saw the movie, and so she just knew Sally had a patchwork dress and ran with it. Okay. Close enough. I joked that we had Zack and Suzy instead of Jack and Sally; ya know, to avoid copyright infringement.

Anyway, the scarecrows needed to be up by yesterday, but Sally's dress still needed to be finished. I decided that was priority, so I finished sewing on the patches my co-worker started, and I added on Sally's capped sleeves.
Same basic feel as Sally, right?
I don't know if my co-worker considered her done, or if she added a few more patches before putting the couple in front of our store. I'll have to check them out when I'm back at work tomorrow.

Anyway, that project took up most of the 5hr work day I had on Sunday. Then, when I got home, I had a quick meal with Hubby before he had to go back to work; yes, he also did a last-minute split-shift on Sunday to help cover with all of the coverage loss at work.

I finally had a moment to sit and write at about 6:30 on Sunday. I had every intention to continue working on Ron's story then, that way it could be set for tonight's writing group. However, as I wound down from my day, and flipped through Tumblr quickly, I was reminded that Sunday was Day 1 of Kyoru week!

Shoot!

I wanted to participate, I had yesterday and today to still work on Ron's story before group, and Ron's story is already "late" at this point, so what would a couple more days hurt? Shelving my original story, I began thinking about what to do with the Day One prompt: Stay.

I started by reading through the other stories submitted. See if any of them spark anything. I then thought of two songs I know with "Stay" as their title.

First was the song I've been obsessing over lately. In fact, I've had it on repeat the whole time I've been writing this blog.

"Stay" by The Score.

It has such a nice beat to it to get you pumped. That bass, man. Plus, I love the lyrics. In case you can't really read that lyric video, here they are again:
I've been lying to myself, at night
Thinking everything is alright
Yeah, I get lost in this state of mind
Losing my words got me, got me, got me tongue tied
Doubt myself and I don't know why
I wish I wasn't this person sometimes (times, times)
I make mistakes but I think it's just fine (fine, fine)
It's just fine
And I tell myself

Stay, who you are
Don't be afraid
When it all comes crashing
Stay, who you are
Don't be afraid, stay

I'm so tired trying to walk the line
Just to measure up, I'm done trying
Yeah, I get lost in this state of mind
Losin' my way every, every, every time, I
Doubt myself and I don't know why
I wish that I could be perfect sometimes (times, times)
I make mistakes but I think that it's just fine (fine, fine)
It's just fine

When it all comes crashing, stay
Who you are don't be afraid
When it all comes crashing, stay
Who you are don't ever change
Stay

Stay
Stay

Stay, who you are don't be afraid
When it all comes crashing, stay
Who you are don't ever change
Stay

Stay
Stay
The lyrics are just awesome for Fruits Basket stories. The desire to be someone else? The want to be perfect? The constant reminder to just stay who you are? Those lyrics just scream out Kyo and/or Yuki. In fact, if I could get video and an editing suite, I would be so tempted to make this into a Furuba music video.

However, the lyrics do lean more towards Kyo by himself, and/or Yuki by himself. Aside from maaaaaaaybe questioning if she's a bit too ditzy, Tohru never really challenges the idea of changing who she is. And, yes, she does remind each boy that he's amazing as he is, she never officially tells them to not change. Besides, the lyrics to the song imply that it's an inner voice reminding the singer to not change.

It's a great song for a Kyo and/or Yuki themed story, but not really one for a Kyo and Tohru themed story. Especially one focused on their relationship. So, over to the second song I thought of the moment I saw the prompt word.

"Stay" by Mad At Gravity. This one was a college staple of mine, and I'm pretty sure Hubby was the one who introduced me to this band. With this song, specifically. Now, the version I know, and the one I can find on YouTube, is the "rare acoustic demo" but I can't seem to find an official studio-release of this song. If you've heard the non-acoustic version, please feel free to leave me the link in the comments section. I'm itching to hear it.

Either way, the acoustic version is probably more sorrowful sounding anyway, so it works.
This song is more about mistimed love, and it actually fits really well for Kyo and Tohru. Not out of any sort of maliciousness, and not because one falls out of love with the other, just because they can't seem to get on the same page. Both believe they aren't worthy of the other's love.

Here's the lyrics.
I can feel you pull away
And it's just as I lean in
And the timing leaves me wide open
With a miss I am betrayed
Slices right through my thick skin
Yet I seek another high

I'm asking you to stay in my arms
Away you're breaking me apart
Stay in my arms
Away you're breaking me apart

And I'm out here on a limb
But I'm holding out my hand
Hoping you can make the climb with me
And I'm carving in the bark
And dropping down to where you stand
Trying silence on for size

I'm asking you to stay in my arms
Away you're breaking me apart
Stay in my arms
Away you're breaking me apart

And I miss you in my fingers
And valleys in between
It's odd how feelings linger
For something yet unseen
There's ages between
My heart and my mouth
My veins throb with that
Which I cant spit out
Now I don't need much
Just presence in mind
And the assurance
Your ache matches mine

So stay
Please don't pull away from me

Stay in my arms
Away you're breaking me apart
Stay in my arms
Away you're breaking me apart
So angsty. Now, the lyrics, especially with how angst-ridden it is, screams a Kyo-to-Tohru story. Lyrics like "Slices right through my thick skin / Yet I seek another high" and "And I'm out here on a limb / But I'm holding out my hand / Hoping you can make the climb with me" and "Trying silence on for size" and "There's ages between / My heart and my mouth" all FEEL like they were written specifically for Kyo.

However!

First of all, I already wrote an "Angsty Kyo to Tohru" story: Unsent Letter
Secondly, all of those lyrics can also apply to Tohru, even if it doesn't feel quite as obvious.

Tohru, arguably, has thick skin as well. How else would you explain her befriending people who were straight up cruel to her when they first met: Uotani, Hiro, Akito, Rin, and even Kyo to some extent. The fact that she's out on a limb and hope that he'd make the climb with her may seem odd since he's the cat and therefore climbs up things all the time. However, for her to INITIATE the climb? He generally snubs things she initiates - at least, at first - because he likes to keep his Tough Guy persona, and fears following behind Tohru would diminish that. Tohru is also a very talkative person, sometimes to the point of rambling. However, she also knows when to sit and listen, and she figures out fairly early that Kyo needs a listener so he feels included. So, you could say she's "trying silence on for size" to see how it fits for their relationship. Much like Kyo, Tohru also can't quite figure out how to express her feelings. Mostly because she fears that she's reading too far into their relationship; seeing romantic advances where there might not be any. That, and she's a bit of a ditz who doesn't notice his non-verbal cues.

Much like Kyo, she is wondering if he hurts as much as her that they aren't together. She also longs for him to stay in her arms - turning into a cat or no - or at least hold hands - "And I miss you in my fingers / And valleys in between." Being apart hurts her, and this is showcased A LOT in the series.

The cincher for me is that it's usually Kyo that pulls away. He's the one who puts up the emotional barrier. It's mostly because he fears his future isolation - and feels guilty about Kyoko - but still, it's HIM that pulls away.

It may be a male singing the song, but this is completely TOHRU'S song to Kyo.

Feeling confident in that decision, I started writing the story from Tohru's perspective. It was going to be an angsty story about her wanting Kyo to admit his feelings, or at least let her know if he didn't feel anything romantic for her. It would be her pain as she tried to coax Kyo to stay with her; be with her; let her hold him, even if it's just his hand. He was going to be his aloof self; struggling to keep his feelings for Tohru hidden. It was going to hurt. It was going to be angst-ridden. It was going to be beautiful.

It was also going to be way too long.

I didn't actually start writing anything until 8pm, and I knew I was going to pause for an hour while watching one of my TV shows. That left me with three hours to write, edit, and publish. There was another hour lost to texting with friends and picking Hubby up from his second shift of the day. Now I was down to two hours! After my first one, I realized the story I was going for was going to take too much time to tell. I had to simplify.

So, when I got back to writing at about 11pm, I edited, cut down, and reworked. It's not nearly as knife-turning as I originally aimed, but it is still a decent show of how oblivious these two are. Plus, I got to write a pseudo-tsundere Kyo. That's always fun.

In the end, however, I didn't finish writing until 12:15am, and I didn't have the story formatted and posted to Tumblr until 12:45-ish. So... I was technically late, but it was before I went to bed, and it was still October 6th on the West Coast. So..... still counts?

I ended up publishing the story on my other three sites Monday morning, and that's when I realized.... titles are a thing.

I'm letting you know right now, my titles are even more trash than normal this week. I just... I can't think of anything properly poetic, but I wanted more than "Kyoru Week" and the daily prompt word. So... please forgive me my titles, and if you have suggestions for alternative, you are more than welcome to leave them in the comments section.

As of right now, the name of the entire Kyoru Week collection is Hearts Together. Yeah...

The story for Day 1: Stay, is called
"Small Talk"

I'm going to wait until next week to note my over-all stats. I probably won't be able to figure out which chapters are more popular than others that way, but I'm already so far behind on everything I don't really have stats for Day One vs Day Two anyway.

Speaking of Day Two....

After my fail with Day One, I tried reallllllllly hard to get my act together for Day Two. I went to bed knowing the prompt was going to be "Firsts." I tried to fall asleep picturing what that could mean.

I woke up with a list of potential "firsts" for a couple. Admittedly, my mind DID briefly stop at "write smut; their first time intimately together." I... quickly breezed past that. It was in the back pocket for a sort of "last resort" but I wanted to stay fairly PG/PG-13 with this story. I then thought about the excitement - and perhaps challenge - of buying furniture for the first time. Which lead me to "their first apartment together." It wouldn't be the first time they lived together, but it would be the first time they did so without any sort of "buffer roommates" as it were.

I continued to think about the story as I did errands and cleaned the apartment some more. I also got a bit sidetracked with errands that sort of sprang up on me; unexpected responsibilities I needed to handle. Mostly because of Hubby having a longer-than-expected shift, and then going back for the overnight. Which meant I had to shift things like laundry around so he had something clean to wear when he went back to work. One of Hubby's friends also asked us to the movies with him, which meant I had to rearrange things I was going to do today so that we had time to hit up the movies. More things to do last night, such as grocery shopping. On top of all of that, I also got distracted when Ron's still awaiting story crept in for me to ponder a bit.

Somehow, throughout the day, I got worried that "first apartment" wouldn't be an entertaining story, so I tried to figure out other non-sexual firsts. However, most of those were already talked about in depth within the manga: the first time they met, the first time they lived together, the first time they really hung out as friends, the first time they held hands, the first time they told each other they loved each other, the first time they kissed, the first time they hugged, the first time they hugged without Kyo transforming, the first trip they took together, etc.

A lot of other participants seemed to focus on Kyo's and Tohru's first child: Hajime. It was sweet, but it was what most people were getting as they read through the event tag. Plus, the stories were more focused on Hajime and how the couple was as parents. It wasn't really focused on Kyo's and Tohru's relationship with each other. There were also a small handful of people who focused on Kyoru's first fight. However, arguably they already had those in the manga as well.

I tried to brainstorm with Hubby as I brought him home for those four hours, but I also had to do the laundry, as I mentioned, so I was doing a LOT of running around. I was also stuck in a Bad Luck cloud. Little things all day: dropping a dish I JUST WASHED on the yet-to-be-washed floor; the shower curtain rod falling on me, twice; my bathrobe billowing out further from my hips than I thought, and therefore knocking over a collection of plastic bottles I needed to bring to the recycling center; my milk hitting my cup of coffee at JUUUUUST the right angle that it splashed my coffee up at me; a sealed bag not properly tearing open when I tried to get to my daily supplemental pills; the chain to the ceiling fan/light snapping so I had to climb up a ladder to reattach it; etc.

It was an exhausting day. By the time I actually had a moment to sit down and WRITE my story, it was about 11pm!

At least I had decided that I was going to stick with my original "first apartment" idea. I was able to churn the story out in about 100minutes, and had it formatted and posted to Tumblr just before 1am. Less than an hour late. Not too bad, right?

I was actually impressed that I was able to write it so quickly, and when I proofread before publishing to my other sites this morning I didn't find too many errors. So... yay.

It did seem to blow up quite a bit already as well, so that's cool. I mean, Kyo and Tohru are actually a sweet couple in this story, so it makes sense that more people would like this over my first one.

The title's still trash though.
"Experience It All"

Now to figure out today's prompt: Selfish.

Also... ya know... Ron's birthday story....

But first, I need to get going! The movie is going to start in about 90minutes, and 40 of that will be used up with driving to the theater!

OH! But before I jet, I'm not the only one who connected with her muse this week.

Taurus Pixie was able to finally figure out her story Immortal Bond and was able to upload the restarted version as Immortal Bonds. How cheeky, including the 's' to get around the "no duplicate titles" thing. This way, if you liked the way the original was written, you can still read that incomplete version. Pixie can also keep all of her lovely reviews, and compare the stats of her new version to those of her original. All while essentially keeping her original title, which she loved and was perfect for her story. YAY!

Right now Immortal Bonds only has a short prologue up, but it's a jumping point. It's an achievement proving that the year-long wait was worth it for both her and her readers. If you like dark, occult-themed AUs, where the main character accidentally summons a not-necessarily-malicious demon, by all means go check out Immortal Bonds!

As for me? I REALLY need to jet now. Bye!

Busy Writing Week

Man, I love being able to sit on my front porch and write again. I just wish it wasn't about to rain, because it's actually a bit chilly right now. I need to find my fingerless gloves. Get all early 2000's up in here....

Speaking of early 2000s, I've been on a bit of a writing streak lately. I'm coming up with random little story shorts, mostly inspired by music, just like I used to in high school. It's fun being back, but I'll talk more about those little drabbles later. First, we have to of course talk about "Peeping Tomcat."

I'm past my half-way point one way or another - if I stay at 14 chapters or expand out to 15 - as of this Friday. This was probably the second or third chapter I thought of as I expanded my original writing practice short out into what is now "Peeping Tomcat." Even though it was one of my oldest written chapters, I was editing this baby right up until I went to bed on Thursday.

Mainly because I needed to add a new element to the chapter, and in doing so I ended up switching up the chapter title. I never really was a fan of the working title "Soup" anyway. It just didn't seem to fit in with the other titles I came up with thus far.

Another snaffu? I whoopsied with my story's saved files again. Because I'm awesome.
Hacker Girl Facebook sticker
by Birdman, Inc.
Ever since I lost most of PT during NaNo, I have tried to be good at saving in multiple places, although I do keep forgetting about re-uploading to Google Docs.... Anyway, I have my main laptop now that I got a replacement hard drive put in last month. I also still use my netbook, mostly when I'm writing at work since the netbook fits in my work bag nicely. Then there is my external drive, my NaNoWriMo "My Novel" flash drive bracelet, and Google Docs.
Unfortunately, it seems this item has been discontinued.
Well, the way I have been doing things goes like this:
  • Write at home and save to laptop
  • Save copy to the external and flash drives
  • Go to work, and transfer flash drive file to netbook; overwriting the file already there
  • Continue to write at work and save to netbook
  • Save copy to flash drive; overwriting the file already there
  • Go home, and transfer flash drive file to laptop; overwriting the file already there
  • Rinse and repeat.
It's been working for me. I've gotten into the flow.

Then Wednesday happened.

I had been writing at work for about 20min before I realized I just opened up the flash drive file instead of my normal routine of dumping the file onto the netbook hard drive first. So I figured "easy fix" and just Saved As to the netbook. Normally, when you "save as" you then work on that new file: either the name changes or the file destination does, depending on what the "save as" difference is.

So, since I selected the netbook's old version of the PT file, and THOUGHT I clicked "save as" and yes to overwriting the existing file, I was under the assumption everything else I did that day was on the netbook hard drive file.

Then at the end of the work day I saved the hour-plus worth of work I had done throughout the day, and closed my netbook. Only to realize "you idiot! You forgot to save the new file back onto the flash drive." So I promptly started my netbook back up to finish my routine.

A moment too late, I realized the "date modified" for the new file was 5/9.... not 5/16 like it should have been. The file I was apparently working on throughout the rest of the work day was still off the flash dive; I never switched to the netbook hard drive version. Unfortunately, I had already told the netbook version to overwrite the file on the flash drive.

Meaning I just saved an old version of PT over the freshly saved new version I had been working on all day....

I'm good at this.
Upside? I more-or-less knew what I did for the edits, and what I wanted for the additions I put in.

Downside? This was one of those rare instances where I think I did a better job with my first go at writing the scene than I did on my "I only remember the best bits" rewrite from scratch. I couldn't remember the exact wording of my first go, but I remembered it being better than what I ended up with.

I then spent most of my Thursday off trying to edit, edit, and edit some more to try to get everything back to the way I had it before my oopsie. I think I got close. Regardless, I think I did well enough that my readers have been enjoying the latest chapter. What do you think?

The chapter has been weird with its reception. On the one hand, it hasn't felt as popular as the others since I haven't been getting as many notifications about faves/kudos, reviews, and follows/bookmarks as I normally do past that first day. On the flipside, this chapter seems to be provoking the most comments... and all within the first twenty-four hours:
FFN: 642 views, 3 faves, 3 followers, and 4 reviews!
AO3: 131 views, 3 kudos, and 1 review
DA: Only 11 views

Total Results: 784 views, 6 faves, 3 followers, and 5 reviews

Reviews from the first 24hrs:
  1. Kitty's got quite the crush. I can't stop watching him watching her! Agh! lol
(AO3 comment about chapter 6)
  2. The green activist looks like an akuma-victim-to-be. It's good Chat Noir was friendly and signed his petition.
  3. Hopefully he's starting to get a clue. Excellent chapter as always!
(One of my repeat reviewers)
  4. Of course he would be slow at it. I really enjoyed this and look forward to more.
(Another Cassy1994 review)
  5. Also, another lengthy review from Jowy's Pixie. See below
So, the numbers for the first 24hrs seems pretty on par with previous weeks, but that spike of five reviews! That's the most I've received outside the initial nine on the first chapter. The only other chapters that received more than one new review within 24-hrs of posting were "Normal" at four reviews, and "Mimicker" at three.

The real kicker here though is that this was a "no new Miraculous episodes" week. Normally those are my "slow" weeks. So, having five reviews, even if one was for an earlier chapter, is pretty neat.

And speaking of "pretty neat" reviews, this is Jowy's:
Jowy's Pixie: Ah yes, Adrien sure is dense sometimes when it comes to his feelings for Marinette. However, it was indeed nice to see in this chapter that he's starting to recognize that what he is feeling for Marinette may be slightly more than friendship. It must be so confusing for him though. To be in love with both Ladybug and Marinette while not knowing that they are the same person. I'm already twitching anxiously at the thought of the chaos this could possibly cause for his already confused emotional state.
I felt so sorry for Adrien the whole time I was reading this chapter. You managed to capture his emotional turmoil perfectly and I was totally invested in his thoughts and feelings. Adrien was so in character this entire chapter. Marinette was also so adorable making him some of her great-uncle's soup and trying to give it to him. Just a shame Adrien wasn't there to receive it and also the fact that Gabriel obviously still would not have let them in. Because I think that could have led to some lovely, cute exchanges between the pair. Ah well, Gabriel will be Gabriel. Why do I have a feeling that the environmentalist guy will become an akuma victim? I dunno, just a feeling, but I could end up being wrong.
Once again, another amazing chapter. I was so excited when I saw the update. This story is very quickly becoming one of my favourites at the moment. I'm really enjoying reading it. Keep up the fantastic work and I look forward to more. Good luck!

D'aaw.... Joxy.... *blush* I already told them thank you for the kind review, but I feel the need to thank them again.

Anyway, the weekend continued, and spilled over until you have today. While the stats didn't increase all that much with regards to faves, follows, or reviews, my views did jump up quite a bit.
FFN: 988 views, 4 faves, 6 followers, and the aforementioned 4 reviews
AO3: 220 views, 4 kudos, and that 1 review
DA: Still only 16 views. No faves this week thus far.

Total Results: 1224 views, 8 faves, 6 followers, and 5 reviews

Tumblr Notes: 1 like, and Cyhyr reblogging it....
Yeah.... My first Tumblr promotion for my chapter updates - last week's "Chapter 7: Confusion" - ended up with 16 notes. All of them were likes, including one like by ChibiSunnie. This past week, though? Just that one like - by someone who doesn't follow me, so... cool? - and Cy's reblog of it to try to help me promote. Chibi hasn't really been on Tumblr this past week, so I'm sure she'll like and/or reblog once she's back on. Until then? I'm stuck at two notes. Bummer. The ironic thing was that I was sure I'd have a better turnout after all the other writing I did this week.

Oh, you forgot that, didn't you? Yup, I did start this post off by commenting on all the writing I worked on this week. It wasn't all for "Peeping Tomcat" though.

Yes, a big portion of it was, which helped with this eighth chapter, and I'll circle back to that, but I've also done some drabbles. I spent so much time letting my mind wander to hopefully come up with the next akuma attack for my story that said mind wandered into a couple of new plot bunny ideas.

You already know the first one. I shared it last week.

As of this posting, it has 11 likes, and 2 reblogs. One of those reblogs was by one of the people who liked it, and they added "Oh my god! So good!" to their reblogging. Cyhyr also chimed in with "Yaaaas continue." So, that's at least 13 people who have read it since I posted it on the 14th....

Then, three days later on the 17th, I woke up with another little short in my head. I have no clue where it came from. I literally woke up with it already pretty fully brewed.

It is a cute little Lukanette story. In other words, a story using the romantic paring of Marinette and a potential new love interest as of episode 12: Luka. Just to keep in mind: Luka, and episode 12, premiered with the USA Netflix release on March 30th. Same day I premiered "Peeping Tomcat."

Which means the fandom has known of Luka - and have either loved him, hated him, or became indifferent to his presence - for roughly 8 weeks. In that same time we have only gotten up to the 15th episode, but Luka returned for a brief cameo in the most recent one. Point being that in two months and only four episodes - including his own - Luka has become a very popular, albeit also polarizing, character. All of this may play a factor in how this story was received.

Namely, the most popular original post on my Tumblr.

As of this posting, it is up to 35 likes, and 3 reblogs, two of which were people who already liked it. Meaning at least 36 people have read it. On top of that, 29 of the likes and all 3 reblogs occurred roughly within the first 48hrs that it was up.

To kind of keep up with this pattern of one new drabble every three days - completely unintentionally, by the way - I posted yet another drabble on Sunday. I guess that means I need another new drabble by tomorrow to keep this up...

Anyway, this was a longer drabble, clocking in at 4 pages/2000 words. A lot longer than I originally thought it would be.

For a few days I had been listening to the song "Play Me Like a Violin" by Stephan. I'm pretty sure I've shared it before, but here it is again.
I knew I wanted to write a romance story based on this song, but I couldn't really lock down what to write. Then, over the weekend, I thought: Young Gabriel Agreste meeting his wife Emilie. Considering the show all but confirmed the fan theory that Gabriel "Hawk Moth" Agreste is a villain of circumstance, doing what he's doing to get his wife back, a la Batman's Mr. Freeze, I knew the love between them had to be special. Normally, that kind of passion leads to the image of sweet, playful but mostly innocent couples. But why? Especially with one episode showing that Emilie starred in at least one independent film, maybe she was more outgoing, charismatic, dramatic - which Gabriel all but confirmed in an episode - or just straight up had a bit of a wild side. Which is where Adrien's Chat Noir personality comes from.

It all clicked then. What if Emilie was that "stranger in a white dress" sung about in "Play Me Like a Violin"? Granted, I wasn't comfortable with having Gabriel taking ecstasy and having a random fling with the first person who made him feel good, but that doesn't mean they still couldn't have a semi-random hook-up.

The whole thing ended up fairly PG in the end, but I still enjoyed what I came up with. I also have more of the story brewing in the back of my mind, much like I did with "Fused Akuma."

So far, it has had 12 likes since it went up just before 3:30pm Sunday. One of those people also reblogged it with the tags:
  #OOOOOOO I LOVED IT!!   #SUCH CUTIESS

"Stranger in a White Dress" was also reblogged by a second person who made me chuckle with their tags:
#CUTE AF   #GABRIEL AGRESTE   #EMILIE AGRESTE
#MRS AGRESTE   #AHHH  #I LOVE IT SO   #THOUGH I DON'T KNOW IF SHE'LL CALL ?? #THAT'S WHAT GIRLS DO U KNOW
I mean, I WAS going to have her call him, but now I'm intrigued.... what if she doesn't? Or, rather, what state is she in when she does? Plot bunnies abound!

Another fun thing about this week in Tumblr-world was that I got my first "ask."

Basically, for those who don't know, there's a way for you to put a link on your Tumblr that encourages people to send you messages via your Tumblr email, which is different than direct messages/chats. While fans of your blog can use this feature to inform you of something, correct something you've posted, critique or even troll you, or simply send you some gushy love, for the most part, it's simply kept as "asks" because fans tend to ask you questions, hoping you'll answer them.

If you do, they can be either answered privately - just between you and the asker - or, more frequently, it is publicly answered. Public answers are posted on your Tumblr page like any other blog post. This helps the blogger answer questions for more fans who may have either asked the same question, or wanted to.

Anyway, my ask? It came shortly after I posted "Kisses": Do you have an ao3 account or a wattpad? I read one of your fics and I'd like to read some more.

So, of COURSE I publicly replied that I do have and AO3, and shared links to it, my FFN and DA accounts, and even promoted my original works a little by linking to my FictionPress account.

.....

And then about an hour later I realized that I was an idiot and should have used that opportunity to promote PT again... so I reblogged the ask with the link to that.

So I've been having more and more people stop by my Tumblr. I've expanded my audience. Granted, not by much; less than 100 people, but still, it's expanding. I've also had love for my stories, compliments about it, and I tried to use that momentum to promote PT more.

And yet the traffic to my story doesn't seem to showcase any of that... bummer. Hopefully with more "every third day" drabble posts along with my weekly updates to PT, I'll get more traffic flowing my way.

Ironically, this week I HAVE been getting a lot of notifications for new likes and follows.... for my "Hey, Arnold!" stories....

And if that STILL isn't enough writing for you? I've FINALLY figured out about 90% of the akuma I need for Friday's chapter update. Talk about last minute, right?

I had it mostly figured out so I could hint at it in chapter 8, but apparently I'm not subtle with my hints. Then again, fans of the show know by now "any random character that isn't part of the core cast that shows up is obviously getting akumatized, otherwise why bother introducing them?" So I guess I kept true to form in that case....

Michel Poirier is an environmentalist university student in his early 20s, and he becomes Terravenger. Trust me, that was the best name I came up with. I think it's about par with the other ones within the series... His goal is to revert Paris to an untamed jungle... well, forest, technically, because of the temperate environment, but "untamed jungle" has a better ring to it. I've also got a rough page-long synopsis of what happens thanks to the Snowflake Outline method created by Randy Ingermanson.

I still have some tweaks to do, namely the Lucky Charm. As of right now I have chopsticks that she uses to block the seed shooters mounted on the back of Terravenger's hands, but it seems a bit too simplistic. Sure, chopsticks aren't straight forward, but the second she sees the seed shooters she just needs to throw and use her luck to clog the shooters. I also need to better figure out CN's distractions. So I'm hoping my writing mojo spills over into this week.

At least I have a lot to talk about at group tonight. Which reminds me! After a small writers-block- induced hiatus, Omnibladestrike is back to writing again. I'm proud that the month away from the keyboard didn't deter him. Sometimes we just need time away for our brain to recharge and refind inspiration. Sometimes, like with Omni, we need to switch gears on what we're writing, at least for the time being.

Goodness! I still have so much more to talk about, including the update to my reading challenge, but this post is epically long; more so than usual. So I'm going to call it a week. Maybe I'll have time to talk about the reading challenge next week.

Finally, a shout out to my father's would-be 60th birthday this weekend. Love ya, Daddy!

Incoming: Full-Blown Miraculous Nerd

My mother has completed her task to get my apartment organized!

I still have some "homework" to do; mostly boxes of odds-and-ends that I need to sift through, re-organizing my bathroom now that I have a new storage location, getting decent bookshelves for all of our books, and a few storage totes that are temporarily in my library.

So, I'm not 100% done, but, with her help, I'm up to about 90% done, maybe even 95% done.

The place looks amazing! Check it out! Excuse the "grossness" of the "before" photos. I'm sure now you'll understand why I was so stressed and constantly complaining about having to clean instead of write:

After

Main Living Area: After
And now time for the shameless plug for her business. If you are even close to my "before" pictures, and are in the continental US, please check her business out for some help. She's also good at generic "downsizing" or packing for moving.

OK, well, now that I flooded this post with pictures and free advertising.....

I spent the whole week writing! Can you believe it!? The beauty of not having to clean every minute I'm home! Also the beauty of finding some "just us" nights at home. I love my friends, and I get depressed when I can't socialize, but I need some "me time" too, ya know?

Anyway, I didn't do as well as I did the last leg of the summer challenge; I only wrote 4300-some words this past week. However, I did write every day. Well, technically, I didn't write any narrative on Tuesday, but I wrote the blog post, so I still had "writing time" every day the past week. SEVEN DAYS IN A ROW! WHAT!?

Monday went back to an "I'm not writing anything" day, but I did punch out a couple more pages for the work orientation handbook, so... that still counts, right?

I'm still grinding away at my first-ever "Miraculous Ladybug" fanfic, and boy do I need to scrap about half of it!

I know, I know. It sounds discouraging, and it sounds like I'm discouraged. Neither are true, though. I'm excited that I'm writing so frequently. I'm excited that even with a few stall days, I've been able to more-or-less stick with this story for a solid month. I'm excited that I've evolved enough as a writer that I'm actually WILLING to scrap bits to try to improve my work.

Even earlier this year, I don't know if I could do that. Which is the main issue with Please, Let Me Explain. I just didn't know how to kill my little darlings. In this case, I don't mean harming - or literally killing - my characters. I mean looking over a paragraph, or two, or a whole page, and go "this is crap; let's try that again." I just couldn't slim it down to make it work better.

This fanfic, though? I have no problem dumping every last word I did the day before and trying again. I've done it about four times now. To prove my point, I had started this month with about 6300 words already written for this story. This month I have written exclusively for this fanfic, and I have written over 10,000 words as of Sunday night. Therefore, the grand total written thus far for my Miraculous story is 16,630 words. Yet, when I do a word count for the actual story - with all the "crap" bits removed and rewritten - my grand total is 13,891. That's 2700 words that I've written since I started this fanfic, and decided not to keep. I have NEVER done anything like that before!

Fear not, fellow writers who know better, for I did not just delete and re-wrote. I know that "crap" written still holds golden nuggets somewhere. You just have to go back and look it over again with a new perspective. Or, maybe I had a beautiful metaphor or turn of phrase that didn't work then, but will work in a future story. There's even the more painful idea of the writing actually being beautiful and some of the best work I've written, but it doesn't work a lick with the rest of the story.

No, dear reader, I know better as well. I've cut out the parts that just didn't work for me, and pasted them into their own individual word docs to maybe peruse later. I now have my first ever "scraps" folder to sift through should I ever need them.

I also started up a notebook for me to keep separate thoughts in: what I want to make sure is included in the final story, what needs to be added, what needs to be removed, plot holes I need to plug, bits I need to shorten, scenes I need to slow-down and expand upon. It even has notes from the show itself to make sure the continuity is accurate. The most fun bits, though, is that I've started notes for fan-theories as well that I might want to expand upon either in this story, or as plot bunnies for future stories.

I'm actually having fun with this editing process. Something I never thought I'd ever mutter. I mean, who ENJOYS editing their work!?

Even with all this heavy editing that I've already started, I know even more must be done. I have the makings of a good story, I know I do. I just don't think I came at it the right way. That's where the notebook comes in, to help me find the right angle. I'm still going to push through to the end of the existing story, to see what else shakes loose. However, I feel it will be a complete rewrite when I go back through and make it into a chaptered story.

The rough part is that I want to stop work on this fanfic by the end of the week in order to spend next month working on the Jungle Movie fanscript again. I also need to get started on my notes for the Varekai fan-novelization I want to do for NaNo. So, I might not even finish the current incarnation of this story until the end of the year. I may even have to wait until January to get back into writing more Miraculous, because I was supposed to have a cleaned up Devon/Trish battle for you folks that I completely forgot about with this current obsession! So I REALLY need to finish that up and post it before the year is out! Especially since I promised it would be done last month, and again for this month.

Bad, LycoRogue! Bad, bad Lyco!

Even when I do finish the Miraculous fanfic - be it in December or January - I then have to sift through to find the true story, and the right POV to tell it in. Clean it up. I'm probably looking at March, maybe even April, by the time I'm done, if I really kick my butt in gear. I just couldn't wait that long before posting ANYTHING about this story.

Since the finished product may only barely resemble the one I'm currently writing, and since it will take me about six months before it is ready for the light of day, I decided to just take the plunge, and share a teaser.

I know, it's mean, and leaves people wondering for quite some time, but maybe it will also get people as excited about this as I am. I hope I don't get in trouble for posting a teaser on FanFiction.....

"Peeping Tomcat - Teaser"

Want to know the best part? I blame being in Chat Noir's head for this, but the pun naturally showed up in his inner monologue, and I loved it enough to make it the title.

GUYS! I DID IT! I CAME UP WITH A TITLE! It was fairly easy, too! Wha!?

OK, I've become a MAJOR Miraculous nerd over the past two months, but if it's helping me improve THIS MUCH in my writing, I'll go with it.

"Hey, Arnold!" did the same thing for my writing. It brought me out of a six-year slump and got me excited to routinely write fiction again. THIS is what's so amazing about fan fiction! Shows, movies, games, and books with such rich characters and worlds that the audience just CRAVES more than can be presented, these are perfect springs for Muses to drink upon. Writing blossoms, as does artwork, and even acting.

I've been a bit obsessed with listening to dubs of fancomics the past week or two. Seeing the other stories and the beautiful artwork Miraculous has inspired floors me. And, while I'm loving the vast majority of the voice actors practicing their craft with these dubs, there is a couple in particular that kills me. Nearly every night Hubby looks at me weird as I'm laughing hard enough to cry at their bloopers.

Give them some love: Princess Sakura Serenity and her fiance Isamu Mamoru.
Love should also go to their main partner in crime RileyChase Fox.

Enough gushing about them, though. I have someone else to gush over: Omnibladestrike!

Yup! You read right! I actually flaked and forgot to share his second chapter a week or so ago, but he's up to chapter 3 of his new story! He's afraid that he hit a wall on where to go for chapter 4, but maybe some love will inspire him. Go! Check it out!

Ok, well, if I'm going to take a huge chunk out of this story before I have to shelve it, I should get started on that! Catch you guys next week.

Being Creative Without Writing

After the winners were announced for the Halloween themed contest, a comment was made that there would be a Christmas themed contest as well. Here we are, a week in to December, two weeks from Christmas, and there has been no further mention of the contest. I guess the idea was dropped.

This means December is a nice break from the frantic writing I did last month. As of yet I haven’t written another word for any sort of fiction. It’s a nice break, but it’s also a little sad that things are still on hold. This doesn’t mean I haven’t been creative, however, it just means it is through different mediums.

First up, ChibiSunnie and I are going to be working on a fan video together. Ever since I first heard the song “One More Night” by Maroon 5 I’ve had this nagging idea that it’s a perfect song for Curly and Rhonda. The problem though is that the song is too “mature” to use clips from the show. It’s almost mandatory to use images of Curly and Rhonda while they’re in their 20s. Alas, there are no such clips aside from a brief glimpse of Adult Rhonda in the episode “Married”. I thought I’d be able to put the thoughts of the music video out of my head since it’s impossible to piece it together. I thought I would maybe turn the idea in to a story instead. After all, that is how What Is Truly Meant To Be started out – an idea for a music video that I couldn’t make, so I wrote the first chapter instead. I then continued the idea so that each chapter is now basically a music video in prose form.

Yet, I still couldn’t get the music video out of my head whenever I heard the song. In fact, the video slowly developed more and more. That’s when Chibi volunteered to help me out with this task. She’d draw images that fit to the shots I had in my head, and then I’d edit them together as an animatic. How could I turn down this offer? Thing is, the offer came during my writing frenzy, so December was the first time I was able to actually start seriously thinking about it.

I’m maybe half way through the song, writing out detailed notes in the way of prose so Chibi can “see” the footage that’s in my head and then she can decide on the image(s) she wants to draw to fit. I already have a pencil sketch storyboard from Chibi. We’re booking through this project! However, the amount of time it will take for her to draw everything out and then the time needed for me to edit it all together; I’m assuming we won’t premier the video until the summer. We’ll see.

Anyway, the idea is to have our video play out sort of like this Maroon 5 animatic video for "Payphone":
Sorry, this video is the original lyrics, not the clean radio edit... :-/

There’s more creativity this month than just that. Namely my Christmas gifts. Hubby and I have so little expendable cash; even $5 for a gift feels like a lot to us once multiplied by the amount of people we want to give gifts to. I thought we weren’t going to be able to give anyone anything, but then I found my tote of yarn. When I say tote, I mean one of those 35 gallon totes overstuffed with spools of yarn. For a little while about four years back I was addicted to buying spools of yarn simply because I liked the color. After finding the tote I decided I would crochet gifts for Christmas. It won’t cost anything besides my time.

Oh boy, will it take time! I’m not done with my first craft yet and I’ve already spent about fourteen hours on it. Basically, while Hubby is playing Fable III or while we’re watching our Prime Time shows I’m on the couch crocheting. I’m getting so stiff, and the craft I’m working on now isn’t coming out quite how I had planned. But hopefully the labors of love will be recognized. I know that one of my favorite childhood Christmases was the one where my parents made all of our gifts due to a similar problem Hubby and I are in this year.

All of this isn’t to say that I’m not writing this month. The likelihood of me doing any significant writing is slim, but it’s not impossible. I did open up chapter 8 to reread what I’ve written so far, as well as tweak a thing or two so it’s at least edited and ready. While I’m on break at work this month I might manage a little more of the chapter in 15min spurts.

I also have had Omnibladestrike’s latest chapter sitting in my email for about two or three weeks now. He patiently waited for me to finish up NaNo, but now the poor guy is on hold because of the above projects. I’ll most likely edit his story first before continuing on my own chapter, so I’ll keep you guys posted on that.
Before I leave, though, I want to share one more thing in regards to my story. Early this week Chibi finished off yet another piece of fanart! She skipped over chapter 4 because she was just too excited about drawing this scene. I absolutely love the fanart she’s done, and she’s got plenty more planned!
The best part? Check out that redhead by Patty on the left side. Does she look familiar? I’ll give you a hint:
Yup! Chibi totally included me in the crowd! So awesome!

CHIBI, HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELY THAT YOU ARE TOTAL AWESOME SAUCE!? CUZ YOU ARE!!! :D

Conquering National Novel Writing Month

Alright, my first blog post since starting NaNo on Thursday. Before I get in to the daily play-by-play I just want to remind everyone that I did post on Halloween as I promised – it was a late post, but it was done! If you missed it, go back and check it out and don’t forget to give ChibiSunnie some love! You can also use this time to sign up for alerts to make sure you know when I post outside my normal Sunday updates - or when I post late like today. All the info on how to get alerts is at the start of that Halloween post.

I do want to better explain how to follow my blog via blogger. If you have any form of google account – gmail, google+, chrome-user, youtube, etc – you can use that same account to join Blogger. Once you have a Blogger dashboard you can scroll down until you see “Reading List”. Below that is the option to add. Just drop in the blog’s address and tada! You just followed my blog via Blogger. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to give you alerts this way, but it might be an easier way to keep track if you have a lot of different blogs that you follow. For instance, my reading list includes Rick Riordan’s blog Myth & Mystery, Rachel Aaron’s blog Pretentious Title, and my own beloved DarkAngel1326’s blog Random Creativity Blog.

I also want to state that I’m such a heel! I commented about Chibi’s story last post, and made sure to include the link for all to see. However, I had completely forgotten to show off her DRAWING for the Halloween contest as well! She hadn’t posted it by the time I updated my blog last Sunday and it slipped my mind on Wednesday! So, without further ado, Chibi’s Halloween drawing entry:
She put so much detail and amazing thought in to this.
Check it out on DeviantArt and tell her what you think!
Now that I have all of that backlogged stuff out of my way I can talk about NaNo!

I tried again to build my female lead before starting NaNo. I knew nothing about her aside from a few characteristics that I was thieving from various anime heroines. I finally decided on the name Natalie Myers as of Halloween. I tried going through the Character Building Checklist – written by Larry Brooks and excerpted from his book “The Three Dimensions of Character” by Jennifer Blanchard. Most of the questions I had to skip over since I know NOTHING about my heroine. However, the few that I WERE able to answer gave me a tremendous discovery.

Natalie Myers is me!

Before I realized what I was doing I discovered that in order for my character to work the way I wanted her to I had to write her more-or-less as me. Now, I’m not terribly concerned about writing her as either a Mary Sue or an Avatar. Natalie won’t be a Mary Sue since she’ll have my flaws, and then some. However, she won’t be my direct Avatar either since she has to be BETTER than I am in order to survive in Albion. As much as I’d love to be athletic… I’m far from it. As much as I’d love to be a master archer, I haven’t picked up a bow since high school – except for one shooting range booth at the Renn Faire, but I did horribly with the long-bow. Also, when I go back and slowly shave off the FanFiction aspects of this story in order to make it a marketable original work someday I’m sure Natalie will become less “me” and more “her” as I begin to know her better.

But, for quick writing purposes during NaNo…. Natalie is me…. It’s easy to write a character when you ARE the character… So now I have to go back through that checklist and fill it out as me I guess….

Now that all that prep-work is done, let’s get to that play-by-play!

NOVEMBER 1ST – DAY ONE
I had the day off. I needed to go in to work to do some presentation thing for corporate, but for the most part I had the day off. I was excited to get started on my very first attempt at NaNo. Since my latest blog posts have been 2500+ words long I figured 1667 words per day would be a piece of cake. Lock myself away for a few hours and I’d be golden.
Then I had a pretty major life stressor fall in to my lap. For possible legal reasons I don’t want to really discuss it online – although I DID mention something over on the Writer’s Huddle… Anyway, although my husband and I are pretty certain we have the law on our side, it’s still pretty stressful and I ended up doing a lot of researching and asking people questions to get the best legal advice. I just couldn’t clear my head enough to write anything. What a fantastic way to start off this month-long journey, huh? However, anyone who has followed me during my two tries at Script Frenzy knows that this is about par with the months I attempt to hide away to write….

NOVEMBER 2ND – DAY TWO
Not a good day. I had to work and the entire time I just had to keep mentally chanting “Don’t throw up”. I was dizzy and faint – which is a great state of mind when working meat slicers. :P
I tried to work on my story, but I couldn’t get my eyes to focus on anything. They were hazy and blurred most of the day. It just wasn’t a good day. So I used my time instead to do a trick I learned via the Huddle.
Daydream.
So I have the entire craptastic opening mapped out. I just need to get to writing it.

NOVEMBER 3RD – DAY THREE
Well, I’m feeling better, and the possible-legal issue wasn’t stressing me out too much today. Hubby had the guys over, but they were all playing Magic: The Gathering, so I used that time to hide away upstairs and just type. At least, I ATTEMPTED to type. I couldn’t resist first cleaning out my email, DeviantArt notifications, and Facebook notifications. By the time I was done with those, my father-in-law had stopped by to discuss our options – in regards to the possible-legal issue, once he left we went to get food, and then I read a few blogs while eating and waiting for the guys to finish up playing Magic. By the time I gave up waiting for them and went back upstairs to again ATTEMPT to write, Hubby called me back down so we could all play Mario Wii. That lasted until about 11:30pm… at that point we crashed until Hubby needed to go in to work. I then stayed up attempting to hit that same late-night Writing Frenzy that I used to do before I got a job and needed sleep. :P
Oh, and before I forget, one of the blog posts I read was from the author Rick Riordan – of Percy Jackson fame – and I think it’s a fantastic read for everyone.

NOVEMBER 4TH – DAY FOUR
Thank God for daylight savings time ending, especially with the guys over so late. Got a little over an hour power nap before taking Hubby in to work. When I came home I was moderately awake and so I knew if I didn’t tackle SOME of the story I would never hit my goal of “a new chapter every week” before updating. One of the reasons this post is so late today...
It was definitely a struggle to get started, but by 2am I was finally cranking through. My opening prior to the first Plot Point was longer than I intended and may actually be a touch boring. But I’m going for word counts, baby! This story is raw, unedited, and probably craptastic. I know I have a lot of similes and metaphors in there. Heck, nearly an entire paragraph is “blah blah like a yada yada… such and such resembled this thing… doodad was as if it were whatchamacallit…etc.” So…. Sorry to anyone brave enough to actually “follow along”.
The first chapter was probably the most derpirific somewhere around the middle. I got to the point where I was starting to feel sick again – stomach pains, light headed, eyes couldn’t focus, nausea – and I was all “After I’m done with this paragraph I’m going to bed; screw the chapter.”
Yet, my determination to at least finish a scene – so that those reading will have something moderately complete, even if it isn’t the whole first chapter – drove me to just fight through. It’s this same motivation that keeps me writing for seven hours straight; and the same “I’m not stopping until this scene/chapter/story is done” attitude that kind of scares me from starting in the first place. Even if I could train myself to stop even when I’m not done, what if the next time I start up again I don’t have in my head the “great line/scene” that was in my head while I was in the thick of things? This is why for the longest time I ONLY wrote when I had a day off and could just sit in my room with my computer all day.
Anyway, fear not, for at around 5:30am I felt better and became awake again. Well, for about an hour at least. By 7 my eyes gave out and so I succumbed to an hour long power nap. I powered through the last portion of the chapter and posted it on FanFiction. The chapter is 3767 words long, so that covers today and yesterday. I just need another 2700 words to be caught up….
I’m not going to post my story on DeviantArt – it’s going to be too long and too messy – but I am debating posting it on FictionPress. However, I think I want to hold off until a)it’s polished – it would be my FIRST piece of work posted there, and b)all the “fanfiction” elements are taken out so that it’s definitely an original work. Thoughts?
